Mercedes-Benz is one of the most famous carmakers in the world. In the modern world, it is hard to imagine a car without various systems. Ocean Protocol represents a decentralized data exchange protocol focused on data collection, sharing, and monetization. Recently, Ocean Protocol announced a pilot project in partnership with the parent company of Mercedes-Benz. Importantly, Daimler AG’s South East subsidiary will use blockchain-based solutions to gather as well as monetize the firm’s data.
Importantly, the pilot project will demonstrate Ocean Protocol’s recently launched “Compute-to-Data” protocol. This protocol protects the privacy of Daimler’s data while allowing the information to be analyzed and aggregated by third parties.
Daimler AG and new opportunities
Ocean Protocol hopes to attract other major global firms as well. Based on the information, Ocean Protocol described this project as a scalable blueprint for deployment. Moreover, Daimler AG believes in blockchain as thanks to the blockchain it is possible to unlock the value of data in a decentralized way.
The pilot project is focused around Ocean Protocol’s ‘Compute-to-data’ solution. The aim is to enable companies to share, buy, and sell data without compromising privacy.
It is worth mentioning that, Ocean Protocol’s wider vision is to coalign blockchain and artificial intelligence technologies with the compute-to-data offering. For example, organizations can allow third parties to build artificial intelligence models on top of their data without risking exposure.
Based on the information provided by Ocean Protocol Daimler had a clear vision when it comes to blockchain technology. Importantly, blockchain technology can unlock data sharing and make operations more efficient.
One of the co-founders of Ocean Protocol, Bruce Pon worked at Daimler. Other carmakers should also embrace blockchain, as it will be easier to adapt to the everchanging environment. Daimler AG made the right decision when it decided to work together with Ocean Protocol. This decision shows that carmaker understands the importance of new technologies.
