Does Technology Addiction Make Children Grow Faster?

parent, China tightens limits on online video games for kids

In America, 2,000 parents took part in a survey in which 80 percent believe that the role of a parent is more significant and more challenging now than it was years ago, as technology has taken over much of everyday life.

The pandemic has made children even more attached to technology. One of the biggest things that worry parents since the pandemic got their kids used to virtual learning is their reliance on technology. This worldwide exposure to gadgets has given parents a new extra worry.

The main problem is that spending time outside with friends and communicating has been replaced by a hefty dose of technology. The survey found that four out of five parents face more realistic challenges today than ever before.

Eighty-six percent of respondents’ parents believe that children are growing up faster today due to the impact of technology. The survey found that children spend an average of 43 percent on an internet-enabled device, a percentage exacerbated by the pandemic.

During the pandemic, parents were also forced to give their children more time to spend with the screen and have fun. Part of the parents made it clear that the child spends five or more hours daily on screen-related devices.

Eighty-six percent of parents informed their children about the potential dangers they regularly have to talk to online safety. In addition, many parents feel the most significant responsibility for the control mechanisms through which it is possible to track their children’s online activities. However, some of them believe that children should be trusted instead of controlled.

The main concerns on social media are dangerous interactions, cyberbullying, and violent video games. 55% of parents also admitted to having an argument with their children about spending time online.

Conclusion

As for the answer to the main question, children addicted to technology grow and develop faster; the answer is – no. Moreover, according to studies, a body overloaded with sensory stimulation causes developmental delays in children, negatively affecting basic skills.

The impact of technology negatively affects a child’s hearing, the development of visual systems as they are loaded. Sensory imbalance even creates vast problems from a neurological point of view. Even young children, especially those who play video games, are in high levels of adrenaline and stress. Children who consume technology too often have increased heart rate, shortness of breath, easy irritability. The long-term effects of chronic stress in children are unknown. However, it leads to a weakened immune system and several chronic diseases in adults.
