Samsung’s Upcoming, Downgraded Flagships

South Korean technology giant Samsung revealed modest versions of its flagship smartphone with Galaxy 10 Lite and Note 10 Lite. The company’s statement earlier this week barely revealed any details, other than their similarities and similarities to other devices.

Both devices have a 6.7-inch, 2400 x 1800 AMOLED screens with thin bezels and a cutout for the selfie camera.

While both devices have three camera sensors on the back, they’re on par with low and mid-range Android phones.

The S10 Lite has two sensors with a 48-megapixel f/2 wide-angle lens camera with “Super Steady OIS.” The 5-megapixel macro lens can keep focus zoomed in until three to four inches away from the subject.

The Note 10 Lite has both an S Pen stylus and a 3.5mm headphone jack, while the S10 Lite has none of them.

Samsung’s in-house Exynos 9810 lives in the Note 10 lite, while the S10 Lite has Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 855. With 8GB RAM and 128GB storage, the S10 Lite will have a 4,500mAh battery

Having the in-house chip could mean the Note 10 Lite might not come out release in the US.

Note 10 Lite supports super-fast 25W charging and a 16MP ultra-wide rear camera. Additionally, the device runs Android 10 with One UI 2.0 and will receive updates until Android 12.

Each detail mixes and matches between several pre-existing devices, set for a full-fledged announcement at CES 2020.

Sero, Serif, and Frame on CES 2020

Samsung fans shouldn’t expect any flagship device announcements on CES 2020, in addition to device-focused giants. The company just confirmed an upcoming “unpackaging” for its long-awaited Galaxy S11 on February 11.

The company also plans to give updates on its reportedly clamshell-style phone on the same date.

However, the company plans to announce its rotating TV, Sero, at the event. Initially launched in Korea, the 43-inch Sero can pivot between horizontal and vertical orientations.

The Sero has 60-W, 4.1-channel speakers with the Bixby voice assistant in-hand with the non-removable stand. Said stand has a stopper to prevent the TV from hitting the floor while it rotates.

To begin screen mirroring, Samsung Galaxy phone users can tap their devices on the Sero’s Frame.

Its quality isn’t one of the best, with a 4K screen with QLED color. It lacks full-array local dimming.

Buyers can use the Sero as a large digital photo frame or a music visualizer, as well.

At launch, the Sero costs around KR₩1.89 million or around US$1,600.

Samsung’s Sero is included in its “lifestyle” TV set, which includes the Serif and the Frame. The Serif was designed to blend in with living rooms while the Frame showcases artwork, similar to a desktop screensaver.

The Serif comes in 43, 49, and 55-inch sizes, and supports AirPlay 2 and NFC tag for easier Android pairing. The Frame comes in 75, 50, and 32-inch sizes, now with improved art store with better curation.

The Frame’s store offers access to thousands of pieces of art for $4.99 per month. It includes a motion sensor that shuts off the display when users leave the room or turn the lights off.
