AirPods Max won’t be able to play Apple Music

Little by little, we are discovering how we will enjoy the highest possible quality in Apple Music and that it will have high-fidelity sound. And here is one of the drawbacks of the demands of this quality. The company itself has confirmed that not even the AirPods Max supports Apple Music’s new high-quality lossless audio.

The AirPods are prepared to work with the AAC compressed audio codec over a Bluetooth connection, but not to play the uncompressed ALAC format used in Apple Music. It requires a bandwidth that Bluetooth is not capable of supporting. Even AirPods Max will not be able to reproduce that audio by connecting with a cable to Apple devices.

Apple Music will need additional hardware

AirPods will reproduce spatial audio with Dolby Atmos, for which the W1 and H1 chips of the AirPods are prepared. But audiophiles who want to get the most out of hi-fi will have to buy special adapters and cables, with the possibility of looking for headphones or speakers that are capable of receiving that quality.

Also, Beats headphones with H1 and W1 chips and even some third-party headphones are compatible with Dolby Atmos and Spatial Audio.

Samsung has new foldable OLED panels

Samsung Display, the branch of the company dedicated to developing new display technologies, has shown its new flexible OLED panels that will lead the way for the foldable devices of the future.

The unveiling of Samsung Display was made as part of its participation in the Display Week 2021 event. Various manufacturers show their progress in the segment, so Samsung could not miss the opportunity to highlight its news.

Possible devices of the future

Among Samsung’s new folding technologies is the S-Foldable display, an OLED panel folded more than once. It reaches a maximum size of 7.2 inches when fully extended.

Samsung could introduce the Galaxy Z Fold Tab as early as next year.

Samsung has also shown a sizeable, flexible panel of 17 inches and a 4:3 aspect ratio. It is not a significant change from today’s flexible panels, but its size does open the doors to many new applications for tablets and even for future laptops.

On the other hand, Samsung also explores the segment of extensible screens with its Slidable OLED prototype. It’s capable of stretching to one side and increasing its diagonal without the need for folds.
