Apple’s New iOS installment Ready for Download

After announcing some new hardware with the iPhone 14 and Apple Watch Series 8, Apple decided to focus on software. As such, it’s released a new iOS version that will be compatible with devices all the way back to iPhone 8.

The iOS 16 is an overhaul obviously aimed at the new upcoming iPhone setup. However, it includes some highly-requested features from iPhone users. The primary changes are in the lock screen and iMessage apps.

The iMessage app changes will offer users some more control over what they have sent. You won’t need to worry about autocorrect messing up anymore, as the new feature lets you edit messages for a short period after you send them. Or if you’re dissatisfied with the message as a whole, you can unsend it.

The person you’re messaging will receive a notification about the changes, however. Additionally, the feature will only work if you’re both running the latest version of iOS.

The lock screen change is more significant, although the previous one was more relevant in the users’ eyes. It includes visual changes, such as being able to set your font and background to your preference. However, there is also a functional upgrade.

Namely, there are widgets that you can add straight to the lock screen. That way, if you want to check the weather, you won’t need to unlock your phone. It will also include app integration, so you’ll be able to see drivers’ progress on your ride-sharing apps. We will see how app makers adapt to the feature moving forward.

However, although product releases are a good time for Apple, this one’s not without its issues. The pre-orders for the new devices aren’t meeting previous estimates, causing some concern for Apple shareholders. Analysts theorize that the drop in orders is a combination of the overall global economic degradation and user habits changing to where they don’t buy each new model that comes out.
