Famous crypto advocate John McAfee made a statement connected with crypto promotions. In a series of tweets beginning on December 14, McAfee said he would no longer take part in crypto promotions. It means that he will stop doing crypto promotions.

McAfee used his Twitter account to explain his position. According to his Twits, he had to stop doing Blockchain promotions due to politics. He mentioned that he is going to launch his Presidential campaign in January.

Moreover, crypto promotions took a lot of time. It means that he can’t focus on the campaign. However, McAfee mentioned he is not abandoning crypto; he made the decision to halt crypto promotions.

He also discussed his chances regarding the U.S. presidential election. John McAfee is an outgoing person, and he is not shy about making predictions. However, he admitted that he has no chance to become the president. McAfee’s primary goal is to raise awareness about crypto in the U.S.

He made the headlines in 2017 when he promised to eat his genitalia if Bitcoin’s price would fail to reach $1 million by the end of 2020. There is a website which is dedicated to this pledge.

In October 2019, he launched a beta version of a decentralized exchange or DEX.

Russia and illegal crypto mining

Russia is the largest country in the world in terms of total area. Based on the information, Russian authorities identified two nationals who used computers that belonged to state organizations for mining.

One of the citizens arrested brought to criminal responsivity is a resident of Kurgan, which is the administrative center of Kurgan oblast. He used almost a whole botnet in various regions of the Russian Federation.

A second person used the site of JSC Rostovvodokanal for mining. Two citizens “infected” web pages for mining.

Illegal crypto-mining flourished in different regions of the country.
