Netflix Has About Five Million Users with A Lower Subscription

The American company Netflix recently launched an option for its users, including lower monthly fees and commercials during broadcast programs. The company’s CEO currently has almost five million global active users every month.

According to Reuters, the average age of those viewers is 34, said Jeremy Gorman, Netflix’s president of global advertising and marketing.

In November, Netflix started charging $7 to its users in 12 countries, and the ad-free streaming subscription is $10 for one month.

The company on Wednesday made its first call to advertisers at the annual ritual known as “upfronts,” where networks aim to negotiate commitments for upcoming shows.

To avoid potential protests from members of the Writers Guild of America, Netflix changed its initial plan of a live presentation in New York to a virtual event.

Netflix Is Interested in Streaming Tennis, Cycling, and Surfing

Netflix is exploring investments in sports broadcasting and recently bid for streaming rights to several sports leagues, the Wall Street Journal exclusively reported.

The company recently bid for streaming rights to ATP tennis tournaments for select European countries, including France and Great Britain, but then backed out, according to the report.

The streaming industry leader has also tried to acquire rights to other sporting events, including broadcasts of the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) for the UK territory and several cycling competitions, and was in talks late last year to take over the World Surfing League.

Netflix executives are considering buying lower-profile competitors to avoid higher costs. At the same time, some believe they could spur less popular sports to create future franchises, given the size of the platform and its reach to different audience segments.
