The Fanatec ClubSport Steering Wheel F1 2020 is Almost Here

The king of high-end sim racing equipment just announced a special-edition ring. The Fanatec ClubSport Steering Wheel F1 2020 has forged carbon fiber, which is a distinctive element of a typical Lamborghini.

Fans can find the material in the 5mm-thick front plate in the core of the wheel. It’s also found on the magnetic paddles, which are of the ClubSport variety. Nonetheless, buyers can upgrade to the three-paddle Podium Advanced Paddle module for a F1-style hand-clutch.

Lamborghini has been using carbon fiber since as early as 2016 in its uber-exotic Veneno. Since then, the material was seen extensively in more affordable models like the Huracan Performante.

Made from layers of woven sheets, the Fanatec wheel’s carbon fiber is made of resin with fiber segments suspended inside. Once inserted into a mold, it would result in a strong mold that’s easier to craft.

Traditionally, traditional carbon fiber is made from woven sheets that gives a unique geometric look that’s famous among motorsports fans. But the forged fiber has an urban, camo-like look that’s more applicable to the iRacing wheel.

The new ClubSport wheel has grips made of perforated leather. It has a range of button, multi-selector wheels, and even an analogue thumb stick with Fanatec’s seven-way FunkySwitch

Overall, its users can control 7 functions with an OLED display and LEDs to ensure correct timing for shifts.

The limited-edition wheel is compatible with most of the company’s current line of wheel bases. This includes the CSL elite, ClubSport V2 and V2.5, the top-shelf Podium DD1 and DD2 units, and PS4-compatible bases.

The current ClubSport Formula wheel costs $370, which sets the bar for the new one. Although, the firm hasn’t provided pricing or availability details yet.

Its official debut takes place on the Fanatec site this week.

What to Expect from Fanatec

With its ongoing partnership with Formula 1 itself, Fanatec first revealed the gold-accented F1 2018 wheel in the same year. It introduced a whole new generation of features for its ClubSport Steering Wheel Formula V2.

The firm’s site teased the new wheel when it said last year’s launch involved a bright silver theme.

ClubSport claimed that the new addition includes new technology and new materials in an incredible package. The wheel will be available on its website in all regions as soon as it announces the launch this week.

That said, the wheel will be restricted to 2020 units around the world.

But with the coronavirus pandemic in the way, some fans claim that the release wouldn’t go the way Fanatec intended. Some claim it would be a pre-order with delivery when the F1 2020 game launches later this year. Some claim that the game is its most realistic version with an overhaul of the Energy Recovery System.

Circulating reports showed that the wheel has customizable, countless button faces with hints of orange. These buttons and dials are on offer to control everything a modern F1 car delivers.

Moreover, it also includes a quick-swap mount that works with most of the company’s modern wheels.
