Tesla owner mines over $800 a month in crypto with his car

Siraj Raval has tried various ways to mine cryptocurrencies and found out that his Tesla Model 3 could help.

He ran a free bitcoin mining software on his Apple Mac M1, powering it by plugging an inverter into the power socket located in the car’s center console.

He’s also begun working with connected graphics processing units (GPUs) to his Tesla, running these machines off his car’s internal battery.

Raval says it’s worth it even though he risks voiding his car warranty.

When the price of ether rose in 2021, he claims he was earning more than $800 a month.

Bitcoin miner Alejandro de la Torre said that eventually, mining from a Tesla car is like connecting to any power source.

He said that the central part is the price of electricity. He added that it is a good idea if it’s cheaper through an electric vehicle.

Mining for crypto with a Tesla

In 2018, Chris Allessi decided to work with his Tesla.

He said that he likes electricity, zapping, and building stuff. He also said that if you give him an electric motor, he can give you a finished product.

Like Raval, Allessi has tried various ways to convert his Tesla Model S into a crypto mining tool.

Profitable, but is it worth the hassle?

The idea that Tesla’s crypto mining possibilities prove its profitability had played an essential role when the driver bought the vehicle.

For example, Allessi purchased his car before 2017, which means that he had access to a scheme where he has unlimited supercharging for the life of his car.

In 2018, he estimated that with a 60-hour window, he made $10 worth of bitcoin. These turned out to be a profit because he didn’t have to pay for power.
