Ukrainian Government, Cryptocurrencies, and Education

Cryptocurrencies gained popularity around the world as more and more people are willing to invest in Bitcoin, Litecoin etc. However, people should have at least some knowledge about cryptocurrencies before entering this market. Hopefully, the government of Ukraine understands the importance of cryptocurrencies.

It is worth noting that the Ministry of Digital Transformation released a web series to educate citizens about cryptocurrencies, as well as blockchain. Interestingly, the show premiered on Wednesday. The show was developed in collaboration with Binance, Hacken, and Crystal Blockchain as part of the country’s government “Diia.Digital Education” program.

Importantly, the web show consists of eight episodes of 6 to 12 minutes each, that explain the basic concepts of cryptocurrency and blockchain. An entrepreneur and former banker Andriy Onistrat, is the host of this show. He takes interviews from guests who work in the blockchain industry.

Cryptocurrencies and Ukraine

Interestingly, the first episode, available on YouTube, introduces the concept of cryptocurrencies as a permissionless, unstoppable transaction ledger. In the first episode, the guest is Ivan Paskar. He is the marketing manager of Binance in Ukraine. They discussed the concept of supply auditability, Paskar explained how Bitcoin maintains an immutable, auditable supply. The host of the web show talked about the National Bank of Ukraine and how the bank could vastly increase the supply of the country’s national currency.

Moreover, they talked about more complex ideas as well, and mentioned Ethereum, smart contracts as well as decentralized exchanges. It is worth noting that Onistrat asked Paskar some difficult questions as well. For instance, how the ideals of decentralization as well as freedom can be reconciled with the identification requirements seen in many centralized exchanges.

It is worth noting that viewers will receive a certificate of completion after watching all the episodes. As a reminder, the initiative is part of the government’s push to achieve digital literacy in the country. Importantly, other shows offered by the Ministry of Digital Transformation include “digital lessons for teachers” and “how to become a YouTube blogger”.

Binance started work with the ministry since 2019 when it signed a memorandum of understanding to help Ukraine’s cryptocurrency regulation. Hopefully, the ministry understands the importance of cryptocurrencies. Thanks to collaboration with Binance, Hacken, and Crystal Blockchain it will be easier to achieve digital literacy in Ukraine. Moreover, the country has a huge potential when it comes to cryptocurrencies and Authorities should take advantage of this fact. Also, they should work with companies to make cryptocurrencies more popular in the country.
