YouTube Too Huge to Filter All Harmful Contents

The CEO of Google, Sundar Pichai, declared that YouTube, the video-sharing giant, is too big to fix the site’s issues thoroughly with harmful content.

In the past couple of years, YouTube, owned by Google, moved closer under fire due to objectionable contents. Materials vary from deniers of the Sandy Hook massacre to supremacist content. Also, these contents continue to surface despite the company’s attempt to filter them out.

Sundar stated if there would be enough human resources to filter through and remove harmful contents, “Let’s say we’re getting it right 99% of the time. You’ll still be able to find examples.”

The Pichai also added, “Our goal is to take that to a very, very small percentage well below 1%.

Aside from that, Pichai believes Google can’t get that to 100%.

In addition to that, when it comes to any big firms, it’s usually tough. However, Pichai is confident about making significant developments, and enforcement will soon be better. And since most of the videos have been running for years, the CEO wished Google tend the issues sooner.

Huawei’s Revenue

Elsewhere, Chinese tech giant Huawei will cut down its production capacity, and it might result in a hit on revenue growth. The CEO of the company announced it on Monday. He also disclosed his plans to handle the continuous pressure from the United States.

The founder of the telecoms equipment giant, Ren Zhenfei, stated, “In the next two years, I think we will reduce our capacity.”

“Revenue will be down by about $30 billion compared to forecasts. So our sales revenue due this year and next year will be about $100 billion.” Then, he also added that Huawei would reclaim its growth momentum after 2020.

Until now, Huawei is on a U.S. blacklist which binds American firms in doing any business with the tech giant. Since Huawei depends on American suppliers for components and software in some of its products such as smartphones and laptops, the restriction affected the business of Huawei deeply.

Then for the first time in 2018, the Chinese firm revealed a revenue above $100 billion. The income is 19.5% higher than the previous one. However, based on Ren’s statements, the revenue growth of the company will be flat in 2019 and 2020.

Moreover, Huawei is also considering making various versions of its products. But no reports found if this means the company will change its supplier.

Above all, Huawei is currently developing its operating system, and it might be ready later this year in China. But the tech giant is still willing to work again with American companies if given a chance.
