Telegram Messenger Inc made the decision to dismiss a lawsuit against Lantah LLC. This lawsuit dates back to 2018. Let’s have a look at this case. Interestingly, Telegram Messenger Inc voluntarily dismissed its lawsuit against Lantah LLC regarding the use of the ‘GRAM’ trademark for its Telegram token.
However, Telegram will have to pay reasonable attorney fees to Lantah LLC for defending the lawsuit since 2018, according to U.S. District Judge Charles Breyer.
It is worth noting that, U.S. District Judge Charles Breyer, dismissed the suit without prejudice to refilling. As a result, Telegram will be to make claims over the GRAM trademark in the future.
Importantly, Telegram dropped the lawsuit after abandoning its Telegram Open Network project in May. As a reminder, the famous messenger settled a lawsuit with a U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission in June. It will pay back $1.2 billion to investors in their ICO for the failed Telegram Open Network.

Interestingly, Lantah LLC did not submit records documenting its legal costs. As a result, the parties must now negotiate a reasonable sum of money before reconvening with the court.
Notably, Telegram announced its plans to fund the launch of a blockchain network through the sale of GRAM tokens several years ago more precisely in late-December 2017. It is worth mentioning that, the Florida-based Lanhah was created in June 2017. The Florida-based company claimed to have already planned to issue a cryptocurrency called GRAM before Telegram.
Moreover, Lantah LLC submitted an application for the GRAM trademark by 2018. However, Telegram filed a lawsuit against the Lantah in May 2018. By that time, the company was able to raise $1.7 billion through a three-month offering of GRAM tokens.
